I love to play the guitar, but I do it poorly. The line I like to use is that I am a horrible guitarist but make up for it by being an even worse vocalist.
I'm self-taught ( and have a terrible teacher) and have been noodling around for around 18 years. I started using guitar magazines (Guitar For the Practicing Musician, Guitar World, Guitar School) to help me around 1991. I collected the magazines for 5 years. Once I stopped listening to the radio I lost track of they songs being played and couldn't relate to the groups hi-lighted in articles and transcriptions.
I own a Fender Strat (it deserves a better owner), a Washburn Force 1 (that was being thrown out by someone who had a fire. I replaced a pickup and it works fine), and a Norman acoustic.
