OUR PETS
Our Family now has 4 pets. Unfortunately, we are only allowed 1 dog
(which makes me a better person than my wife). The other 3 animals
are cats (I guess they count as pets, but they are better shark
bait).

Cajun is our dog. She is a yellow lab-golden
retriever cross. She got her name from a dream my wife had. We were
going to name the dog "Jalapeno" or something like that, but she had
a better idea.
Unlike Nadir, this dog does not have a vast intellect. As a matter of
fact, she could be described as "challenged". But Cajun makes up for
it by being cute, and having more love in her than any other animal
could. Cajun thinks she is a cat and likes to lay on people's laps,
or sleep on the back rest of a couch. Friendly to everyone when we
are around, she is very protective when we are sleeping.
Cajun is very tolerant of the cats. She will let them have their
way EXCEPT when it comes to sharing food.
Bubbles is the grand-dame of the family. She
is a calico who likes people more than she likes other animals. She
will crawl on your lap and sleep. She adores being pet. At night she
will find her way onto your bed and sleep with you. Bubbles avoids
the other cats but puts up with the dog.
Shredds is a grey tortoise-shell cat. She
was a birthday gift for my wife. We had agreements before we were
married: she wanted children and they would be raised Catholic. I
wanted a guarantee we would always have more dogs than cats. I caved
in. She is the opposite of Bubbles...she prefers other animals and
puts up with humans because they are necessary to feed her.
Basically, she is a snob. A good comparison would be she is like a
Univeristy of Western Ontario co-ed.
When my wife was seriously ill, she needed a
pick me up. Spock is that. He is in a constant state of play. His
purring is so loudly you might think the snowplow is driving by.
Spock and Shredds are constantly wrestling, or cuddling. By the way,
Spock's name is NOT based upon Star Trek......he is named after the
progressive rock group, "Spock's Beard".
