Models 250, 340
The excitement generated by the '75 245RV led Ski-Doo to produce this sled in two engine sizes for the trail market. The beautiful little sled now was available in 250 or 340 models. To improve it's trail performance, the headlight was moved up from the bumper of the machine to the top of the hood, a windshield was added and the cleated track was replaced with a conventional rubber one.
In order to maintain it's competitiveness in the racing circuit a "mod" kit was available from Ski-Doo. It contained a new top end for the engine, two very sexy expansion chambers that exited out either side of the belly pan, a set of trick 34 mm Mikuni's for the 250 and a set of 36's for the 340. Also included in the kit was a low mass flywheel, ignition system, track, 11 grand tachometer and clutch parts. I seem to recall the kit costing around $800. For those with a serious racing budget, a titanium track could be had for another $800.
This added considerable punch to the already potent engines but alas this was the year Mercury introduced the blindingly fast liquid Sno-Twisters and the RV's couldn't compete.
Our little racing team campaigned a modified RV through the winter of 75-76 but we were unfortunately outclassed. The 250 modified engine buried the 11,000 rpm tach supplied in the kit and the engine sounded like a jet fighter taking off.
This was the last year Bombardier dedicated resources to air-cooled oval sleds.

Models 250, 340, 440
Bombardier returned to factory racing! Mike Trapp and Yvon DuHamel campaigned a stable of Ski-Doo's and Motoski's based on the T'NT RV sled. A curious blend of Free-Air and experimental liquid cooled engines were tried. I don't have a lot of data on these sleds, I am told the 250 and 340 class sleds were free airs while the 440's were liquids. Interestingly the liquid engines utilized engine components from Bombardier's aborted attempt to build a liquid cooled two stroke street bike.
